Mrs. Beverly Toney Williams, age 84, of Carrollton, Georgia, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2020. She was born November 11, 1935 in Groesbeck, Texas. She spent most of her life in Houston and always considered herself a “Houston girl” and was a lifelong fan of the Astros and Rockets. Beverly met her husband, Fred, her freshman year in college at the University of Houston. Fred says that he knew she was “the one” from one of their very first dates on April 25, 1962. They married less than a year later, and enjoyed a close and loving relationship for 56 years. Beverly worked briefly as a flight attendant, and later as a business administrator while Fred began working as an architect. His career took them to Chattanooga, where they lived for 20 years. It was there that Fred and Beverly adopted their two children, Drew and T. Leigh. As a homemaker, Beverly loved beautiful design and had impeccable taste. Their guests would often be “wowed” by her interior designs and love of beautiful things. In addition, Beverly loved gardening, and cultivated heirloom plants that were handed down from generation to generation. Fred’s career took them back to Texas after their children graduated from college. About two years ago, Fred and Beverly moved to Carrollton to be closer to Drew and his family. A disciplined and determined person, Beverly successfully battled cancer, and gratefully “rang the bell” at the hospital that signified the completion of her final treatment in 2019. For the past few months, she resided at the Brookhaven assisted living facility in Carrollton, with her dog Izzy, while awaiting Fred’s return from a rehab facility where he was recuperating from spine surgery.
Preceding Mrs. Williams in death were her parents, Herbert and Ann (Hardy) Toney; a son, Lewis Williams; and a brother-in-law, Ronnie Patrick.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Fred James Williams; son, Drew (Monique) Williams; daughter, T. Leigh (Rod) Starns; grandchildren, Lindsay Williams, Colin Williams and Chloe Starns; sister, Janet Toney Patrick; niece, Debbie (Steven) Patrick-Schroeder; and nephew, Bart Patrick.
