Andrea Mary Carroll, age 83, of Douglasville, Georgia reunited in Heaven with the love of her life on Thursday, December 21, 2023. Born in Dalmuir, Scotland on April 21, 1940, she was a 1941 Clydebank Blitz survivor. Andrea came to America in 1959 and proudly became a U.S. Citizen in 1976. Storge, or familial love, would best describe Andrea. She was the heart of the Carroll 5. She had an eternal love for her husband, children, grandchildren, siblings and all of her dogs. Andrea retired as a Human Resources Clerk with GMAC, but primarily her occupation was a SAHM—Stay At Home Mom. She and her sister were lovingly known as “Thelma & Louise”. In her spare time she loved music and singing, playing cards with family—especially Skip Bo, working puzzles, cooking, swimming and family travels.
Andrea was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, William F. Carroll; daughter, Susan Carroll; her parents, Andrew and Grace (Farmer) Miller; brother, Robert Miller; and her beloved fur babies, Trixies 1, 2 and 3, and Puddles. We know she will be met at Heaven’s Gate by her beloved daughter and husband, and all of her fur babies; and a hand of Skip Bo cards waiting to be dealt to her to start a game.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Ann Carroll Hill (Jeff Smith) of Glencoe, Alabama; son, William (Sally) Carroll of Williamston, Michigan; sister, Margaret Miller (Thelma to Andrea’s Louise); a beloved “bonus daughter”, Robin Kelly; very special friend of 42 years and former colleague at GMAC, Cynthia Derden; grandchildren, Mark, Grace, Andrea, Jackson and Liam; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.
A special thanks to the staff of Amedysis Hospice, The Pearl of Dallas and The Harbor at Douglasville, for their loving and tender care of Andrea.
A memorial services will be planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to donate to a church or charity of your choice.
