Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Calvin Reid officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Meadowlawn Cemetery, Enterprise, with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 Thursday evening.
Mr. Parham was born February 8, 1919 in Crenshaw County and lived the early years of his life there. After graduating from Auburn University he entered the U. S. Army as an officer during WWII. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was the recipient of 3 bronze stars. He later began his career as a chemist in Mobile, AL and then retired as a Civil Servant as a Management Analyst at Ft. Rucker.
Mr. Parham was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed many things in life such as riding his tractor, flying kites, being outdoors, swimming, playing cards and dominos, reading and the beach. He never met a stranger and had a great sense of humor. Mr. Parham was a member of the Church of Christ his entire life. He will be dearly missed by all, but we find peace in knowing he is with our Lord.
He was preceded in death by his wonderful wife of 52 years, Bertha Era Till Parham.
Survivors include four daughters, Johnny Carole Jones (James Allen “Chip” Jones), Era Jo Parham, Carmen Yvonne Reid (Dr. Calvin Lamar Reid), and Willie Frances “Fran” Schrader; ten grandchildren, Dr. Bryan Allen Jones, Amy Frances Holmes, Capt. Michael Brandon Benson, Allison Reid Lumbatis, Jenny Rebecca Rowe, Jessica Lynn Green, Elizabeth Rowe Strickland, Christopher Calvin Reid, Caroline Frances Tidmore, and Jordan David Reid; and twelve great grandchildren.
Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. Bryan Allen Jones, Capt. Michael Brandon Benson, Christopher Calvin Reid, Jordan David Reid, Charles Nathan Lumbatis, James Eric Green, Jr. and Jerron Allen Tidmore.
