Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 27, 2011 at Byrd Funeral Home Chapel on West Main Street with Pastor Harold A. McKissic, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Byrd Funeral Home directing. The repast will be held in the fellowship hall of Patterson Street Freewill Baptist Church following the graveside service. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 until 8 p.m. on Monday.
Mrs. Jackson was born October 18, 1935 in Banks, Alabama and lived the early years of her life there. After school she moved to Miami where she met and married her husband, Ezell Jackson. They relocated to Atlanta for several years before moving to Dothan in 1987 where she lived the remainder of her life. Mrs. Jackson was member of Patterson St. Freewill Baptist Church where she was a deaconess.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sandria Ingram.
Survivors include her husband, Ezell N. Jackson, Sr. of Dothan; six children, Betty Whitt, Barbara McCray, Danny McCray and Joyce McCray, all of Atlanta, GA, Rosita Darcell Jackson and Ezell Jackson, Jr., both of NJ; five grandchildren, Dontae Whitt (Tara), Tiffany Jackson, LaToya Jones (Dedrick) Andre’ Ingram and Sabria Russaw; thirteen great-grandchildren; her mother, Lena Mae Russ of Dothan and a sister, Mary Beachem of Dothan; several nieces and nephews also survive.
Pallbearers will be the deacons of Patterson St. Freewill Baptist Church.
