

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2011, at Tabernacle United Methodist Church with Rev. Phillip Collins officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory with Byrd Funeral Home on West Main Street directing. The family will receive friends at the church from 12:30 p.m. until 1:45 p.m. prior to services. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be sent to the Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 4205 S. Brannon Stand Road, Dothan, AL 36305.
Ms. McNeal was born April 27, 1922 in Eldorado, AR. She began working in a sewing factory at an early age and sewing became a passion for her that lasted her lifetime. Ms. McNeal became the first female police officer with the Baton Rouge, LA police department. Later, she lived in many foreign countries over a twenty year span with her husband’s work before finally coming to Dothan. She was an active member of Tabernacle United Methodist Church for over 10 years.
Ms. McNeal was preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Wesley and Annie Lou Brunson Cordell and a grandson, Ryan Flowers.
Survivors include a daughter, Martya Murakami; grandchildren, Chris (Leslie) Lodahl; Donna (Dan) Herbst; Kojun Murakami, Carrie Murakami, Jay (Zelline) LaFleur, Jill Boudreaux and Lundy LaFleur; daughter-in-law, Pat LaFleur; great-grandchildren, CJ Lodahl, Erin Lodahl, Connor Herbst, Leah LaFleur, Andrew LaFleur, Anthony Baudier, Chastity Baudier, Hannah Dickson, Amanda Cheramie, and Perry Cheramie; great great-grandchildren, Willow and Drabin Dickson; and one brother, James Lewis Cordell.
