It has been said that when someone dies, an angel is there to meet them at the gates of Heaven to let them know that their life has just begun. At the age of 91, Rosie Pfister’s heavenly life is just beginning. While those she leaves behind will miss her fiercely, they are consoled in knowing that she is where she was always destined to be. As 1 Thessalonians 4:14 explains, “For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.”
Rosie, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2021 with her children by her side. A longtime resident of Donaldsonville and a native of White Castle, Rosie had the patience and devotion of a Saint with an ever-present smile and a heart that was far larger than her petite frame. To meet her was to immediately love her. She was known for her large family, her faith, and the best spaghetti for miles around. She could always be seen at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church on Saturdays, where for many years she sang with the church choir and played the organ. She was also a member of the Perpetual Adoration Chapel, the Donaldsonville Music Club, and the Prevost Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Rosie retired from AM-PM Services at Motiva Enterprises where she worked for decades and made many lifelong friends. Blessed with a large family, Rosie is survived by her seven children, thirteen grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren. Her surviving children are Arlene Peltier and her husband “Ricky,” Vernon and his wife Jan, Frankie, Sandra, Wayne and his wife Letha, Lisa Graves, and Diane Moran and her husband Larry. Her surviving grandchildren are Jessica Peltier, Brittany Comeaux, Lauren Mercier, Maria Pfister, Ian Pfister, DeShone Pfister, Tequisha Pfister, Lindsay Pfister, Kiley Subic, Dori Maddry, James Graves, Jesse Graves, Brook Villa, Blaze Landry. Preceded in death by and joining her in Heaven are Rosie’s husband, Vernon “Spec” Pfister; parents, Frank and Josephine Forte; son, David “Spec” Pfister; and grandsons, Seth and Shane Pfister. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at Ourso Funeral Home in Donaldsonville from 8:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at Ascension Catholic Church at 11:30am. Burial will be in the Ascension Catholic Cemetery.
