He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Roland was a proud member of the early South Vacherie Volunteer Fire Department and made many memories with friends. He was a member of the St. James Parish School Board for six years having the honor to give all four of his sons their diploma. Roland was a Sugar Cane Farmer for the majority of his life and was the owner of White Rose Farm. There was nothing that made Roland happier than cooking and teaching his sons and grandsons the art of the good ole boucherie.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of sixty years, Linda Lassere Bourgeois; four sons, Blaine (Sally), Tim (Kay), Mike (Stacie), and Corey (Kelly); thirteen grandchildren, Eric (Allison), Caleb (Kristin), Collin, Jake (Maci), Scott (Mikelyn), Matt, Sam (Rachel), Celeste, Beau, Carter, Jodi, Analise, and Campbell; seven great grandchildren, Willow, John, Emma, Bryer, Collins, Oakleigh, and Kane; eight siblings, Kathleen, Eva, Leo, Jeanne, Ronald, Corinne, Teddy, and Susan and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Lena Bourgeois, and two brothers, Allen and Robert Bourgeois.
A memorial will be held at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 10am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm with interment to follow in the church mausoleum.
