Myrtle Marie Waguespack passed away peacefully in Napoleonville, La on September 6, 2017 at the age of 89. She was born in Burnside, La. Myrtle was a kind, sweet soul who faced physical challenges throughout her lifetime. She was born deaf and mute and lost her eyesight in her forties due to retinitis pigmentosa. She was a graduate of the Louisiana State School for the Deaf with a Vocational Education Certificate in 1948. She is survived by a brother, Godfrey Waguespack, Sr., four sisters, Gertrude Magill, Bobbie Keller, Genevieve (Vincent) Sotile and Jackie (Bryan) Guillot. Godchildren Cindy Roussel and Paul Magill and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Octave and Edna Robert Waguespack, brother Larry Waguespack, sisters-in-law, Marie Waguespack and RoseLee Waguespack, brothers-in-law, Medford Magill and Milton “Junior” Keller, niece Pam Keller, nephews David Keller and Michael Guillot and great-niece, Allison Andermann. Visitation Saturday, September 9, 2017 at St. Francis of Assisi Church, Donaldsonville La from 9:00 – 10:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Church at 10:30 am conducted by Father Paul Yi, followed by entombment in Ascension Catholic Mausoleum. The family would like to thank Dr. Charles Bolotte, Heritage Manor Nursing Home, Assumption Health Care and nurses and staff for the many, many years of care they provided. Myrtle’s family is rejoicing envisioning her talking and hearing for the first time and finally seeing again dwelling in the house of the Lord forever. “The mute tongue shall shout for joy.” Isaiah 35:6.
