Louis ”Preacher” Lionel Schexnayder, 84, a native of Welcome and resident of Donaldsonville passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. His passion was fishing and watching his grandchildren at sporting events. He was a Youth League baseball coach in Donaldsonville for 27 years. He was also an Ammonia Plant Supervisor at Triad Chemical Plant for 27 years. He served in the Army of the United States and was a Korean War Veteran. He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Dugas Schexnayder; three daughters, Kathy Allen and husband, Larry, Karen Aucoin and husband, Dale, Tracy Cancienne and husband, Thomas Sr.; two sons, Kenneth and wife, Darlene Capello Schexnayder, and Brent and wife, Nancy Berot Schexnayder; four brothers, Robert and wife, Vickie Schexnayder, Sidney and wife, Audrey Schexnayder,Henry and wife, Julia Schexnayder, and George Schexnayder; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, Lionel Louis Schexnayder and Beatrice Labiche Schexnayder; one great grandchild, Shane Lavell Childress Jr.; two sisters, Lucy Schexnayder and Joan Ann Gautreau and one brother, James Schexnayder. Pallbearers will be: Christopher Allen, Patrick Allen, David Allen, Thomas Cancienne Jr., Randy Aucoin, Kyle Schexnayder, and Brad Schexnayder. Donations may be made to Restore the Convent at Ascension Catholic School, 311 St. Vincent Street and Donaldsonville ARC 130 Clay Street in Donaldsonville, LA. Visitation will be at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church on Friday, June24, 2016 from 9:00 am until a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am with celebrant Rev. Paul Yi.
