Janice was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She taught Reading in the East Baton Rouge Schools for twenty five plus years. Janice also taught classes at the East Baton Rouge Parish library and volunteered in the children's reading room. She was Director of Operation Upgrade where she assisted adults with learning how to read. Janice was a proud member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority, Sultana Catholic Women's Group, and the Altrusa Service Organization. When her children attended Broadmoor schools, she also led the PTO. Janice was an avid Saints and LSU fan and she loved shopping.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her two children, Toni Ann Marcello Blank and husband, Charles of San Francisco, CA and Gary Michael Marcello and wife, Cheryl of Lawrenceville, GA; three grandchildren, Nicholas and Natalie Marcello of Lawrenceville, GA and Marcella Blank of San Francisco, CA; one sister, Marie Costanza Beattie and husband, Paul of New York City, NY; her sister-in-law, Cathy Costanza of Baton Rouge, LA and nephews, Troy and Tron Costanza.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Frank Joseph Marcello; grandson, Anthony Marcello; parents, Michael "Buster" Angelo and Antonia Spano Costanza and her brother, Albert Costanza.
A visitation will be held at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church in Donaldsonville, LA, on Friday, February 10, 2023 from 10:30am until Mass of Christian Burial at 12pm conducted by Rev. Phil Spano. Entombment to follow after in the church cemetery.
The family would like to thank Vickie Battiste their angel who lovingly cared for Janice, Compassus Hospice and the nurses, doctors, and staff who were so caring in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
