Irving J Schexnayder

Irving "Mike" Schexnayder, age 87, a native of Lauderdale and a resident of Donaldsonville, LA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Mike was a graduate of his beloved Ascension Catholic and attended Tulane University. He was so proud to represent both schools, where playing football was one of his fondest memories.

Irving "Mike" Schexnayder worked his entire life continuing his family legacy of farming at Schexnayder Farms. He worked until his retirement in 1999.

Mike deeply loved his family and friends. His generous nature, sense of humor, and kindness to all are what he will most be remembered by.

Mike is survived by his wife, Janice Schexnayder; daughters, Catherine Schexnayder Martinez (Wayne), Barbara Schexnayder Martin, Melissa Schexnayder Shaw (David), Lizabeth Schexnayder Simoneaux; son, Michael Schexnayder; step daughters, Rhonda Fernandez (Dale) and Darla Cavalier; mother of his children, Patsy Schexnayder; sister, Enola James (Francis); grandchildren, Susan Glueck (Ben), Mike Schexnayder (Kat), Laura Martinez (Amanda), Alison Sullivan (Michael), James Martin, Meghan Buckley (Dave), Beth Ramos (Christian), Erin Chustz (Tyler), Robert Simoneaux, Madeline Simoneaux, Lillian Simoneaux, Brent Cavalier (Shelby) and Courtney Fernandez; great grandchildren, Patrick Glueck, William Glueck, Lee Glueck, Stella Glueck, Parker Sullivan, Owen Buckley, Liam Chustz and Alyssa Cavalier.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Aimee Schexnayder; siblings, Doris Sigmon, Vivian McCready, Walter Schexnayder, Jr., Alice Eaton, Gloria Prewit and Lorraine Hudspeth; daughter-in-law, Stephanie Schexnayder.

A visitation for Mike will be held Tuesday, February 1, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church. Mass of Christian burial will be Tuesday, February 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM. A burial will follow at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church Mausoleum.
