Norman S Abrams, age 91, of Huntington, New York passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2022. Norman was born December 21, 1930, in Jersey City, NJ to Parents Ada Novick [nee Resnick] (1903-2000) and Saul Abrams (1890-1946).
Norman attended college from 1945-1949 at Hobart College in Geneva, NY. He attended law school between 1949-1952 at NYU. He was married to Mary Donn in 1952. He is survived by son Steven (Samantha) Abrams and sister, Fran Heyman. He is predeceased by his wife of 62 years Mary (2014) and son William “Billy” Abrams (1989). He is survived by his partner of 7 years, Joan Graham. He is also survived by his grandchildren Sara Abrams, Alexander (Emily) Abrams, and great-grandchildren Jacob and Ethan Abrams. He is also survived by his nephew Marty (Fern) Heyman and niece Sue (Dick) Haines as well as great-nieces and nephews.
Norman was driven and disciplined. He knew how to take charge and handle things directly. He was compassionate, intelligent, and curious. He was a great listener who valued deep discussions. He was an eloquent speaker who was calm under pressure and was always well prepared. Norman was a great storyteller and musician.
Norman excelled at anything he put his time and effort into including his many hobbies such as wood working, golf, and playing the clarinet. His first jobs included Tupperware salesman, mason tender, and the delivery of magazines by bike. He worked at his parents’ theater and after graduation worked for the Suffolk County District Attorney as an Assistant DA. He then started his own firm, Cooper, Abrams, and Herman in Deer Park, NY. Additional ventures included being a building owner and an investor and producer for musician Carrie McDowell. Norman was extremely accomplished in both professional and personal life and will be greatly missed by his community and family.
