Martin Samuel Cantor, age 66 of Centerport, New York passed away peacefully on September 5, 2023. He was predeceased by his parents Ida and Joseph Cantor and is survived by his daughters Karen Paul (Josh), Jessica, and Kathryn, his grandchildren Ruby and Wolf, his sister Marjorie Suntup (Marc) and niece Sara, as well as his honorary brother, Jimmy Russo.
Marty owned and operated Martin Cantor Glass for over 40 years and was the handiest, hardest working man in town. He was well known by many for his skill, artistic vision, and flawless craftsmanship. Marty's handiwork is all around us - in many of the glass storefronts of Huntington Village's bars, shops, and restaurants as well as homes and businesses throughout the Island and into Manhattan. In his early adult years, Marty served his community as a volunteer firefighter at the Huntington Fire Department.
Marty loved boating, skiing, and spending time in the Catskills with his grandchildren. He could fix or build anything, and always had a project in progress, never content to be idle. Marty was happiest with a dog by his side - from Hershey, Nestle, and Reeses (chocolate labs) to Suki and Tuesday (the pugs), and finally, Kaia (the mutt). They definitely followed him over the rainbow bridge. Marty's time came too soon, and he is deeply missed by his family.
