A recent post by the lady that owns the barn I keep Lokota at promoted me to look up an artist and dear old friend, Miss Gloria Parker.  Gloria  was an AMAZING, multi-talented individual with a zest for life. She was not only an accomplished musician, show woman and singer of unusual persuasion but made all of her own outfits.  I had the great pleasure of booking Gloria into several musical venues. I wish I had called her just one more time....  There will never be another Gloria Parker.

⭐️ a Birthday Tribute.🎂 Today August 20th, 2022 is Miss Gloria Parker‘s birthday,  it’s her first heavenly celebration (101yr) as she took her last earthly bow a few months ago. She lived her entire life in the spotlight as an entertainer, musician, composer, author, animal activist and was always fighting for justice. I had the pleasure of meeting her in 1991 and continued a friendship for many years until we lost contact. Then last year she called me and we reminisced old times. Months past not hearing from her,  I had a dream and feared the worst, my fear was valid as I sadly read she had passed away.  Her voice message is still on my landline answering machine. We had so many musical experiences and endless conversations about show business and family. Years ago I even spoke  with her dear mother, Rose.  Gloria and I would  share stories of life, we loved animals, birds, flowers, music and spiritual beliefs.  I still have seeds from the 1st Tithonia flower she gave me and each year it reproduces new ones🌸.  Certain friendships come and go, but everyone holds a special piece in our hearts no matter what and Gloria is one of those pieces in mine, I only hope that she felt that way about me too. My farewell words are simply.. "thank you Gloria" for making me feel special and believing that I had a unique singing voice and for always inviting me to sing with your band.❤️😻🎼🎤 your friend, Eveline (I still can’t believe you were 100, you would ‘never’ tell me your age! 🤣) 

I knew Miss Parker for 20 years from when I moved to Melville.  I made videos of her & converted her soundies to digital for YouTube. We spent many cheerful hours together & she will be missed.

Gloria Parker was a musical superstar in every sense of the word with a dynamic personality to boot. 
Speaking as a vibraphone player myself, her skill on this instrument was amazing. 
It was my pleasure to know her ,
To share the same bandstand with her at Grasso’s in Cold Spring Harbor and to be her friend since 1975.
Rest in peace lovely lady!
