It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Cecil Monroe McReynolds, Jr. of Dunlap, CA on January 22, 2024. He was preceded in death by his father, Cecil Monroe McReynolds, Sr., his mother Elsie Dowling McReynolds, his brothers, Jack, Galen, and Timothy, daughter, Denise Michelle, and granddaughter Katherine McReynolds.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Smith McReynolds, his son Keith McReynolds and his wife Carie, and their children Nicole, Sean, Connor and Erin. He is also survived by his daughter Kelly McReynolds, and sister Betty McReynolds Furr.
Cecil was born on June 5, 1943 in Hanna, Oklahoma. He graduated from Orosi High School in 1961 and went on to graduate from Fresno State.
Cecil married Linda in 1963. They welcomed Keith in 1969 and Kelly in 1970. He became a police officer for the City of Dinuba where he worked a short time before obtaining a position with the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department, where he worked for six weeks before being drafted into the Army. He served at Fort Hood, Texas from 1966-1968.
Cecil served as a driver for the Provost Marshall for the Military Police. He was selected to drive President Lyndon B. Johnson during a Presidential visit.
After the military, Cecil returned to the sheriff’s department where he worked for five years before suffering a heart attack and retiring. He then worked as Security Manager/Loss Prevention Supervisor for several department stores before suffering a stroke and retiring in 2005.
In 2004, he and his family moved to Dunlap, in the Sierra Nevada foothills, where he enjoyed his retirement years working on projects around the property and travelling.
Cecil was a great husband, father, grandfather and brother. He will be greatly missed. Per his request, there will be no services.
