Roy Dickie Winston Tidd

Tidd, Roy Winston “Dickie” – Age 81 of Sandy Cove, Digby Neck. Passed away July 15, 2013 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital ICU, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Whale Cove, Digby Neck, he was the oldest son of the late Alton and Lola (Simms) Tidd. He was engaged in lobstering, fish dragging, trawl fishing, hand lining and weir fishing. He loved every aspect of fishing except trawl baiting and loved to talk about it for hours. He enjoyed travelling to every fishing village from Maine to Newfoundland. He loved hunting, dogs, boats, seafood, candy, and turkey dinners, but not that “sickish lemon pie.” He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Laura (Morehouse) Tidd; son, Bruce, Halifax; daughters, Ann (Randall) Hudson, Sandy Cove and Janis (Steven) Gidney, Lucasville; grandchildren, Stephanie, Laura Lynn, Beverley, Nathaniel Gidney; Taylor Hudson, step grandson, Dylan Hudson; brother, Lauriston (Dorothy) Tidd, Little River; sisters, Audrey Titus, Centerville; Shirley (Danny) Raymond, East Ferry and Marjorie Theriault, Bridgewater; nieces, Sherry Longmire, Cindy Theriault, and Karen Lauriston; nephews, Gerry and Tony Titus, Christopher, Bradford and Gregory Tidd; Dwayne, Randy and CraigTheriault. Dickie will also be missed by his little dog “Plurky.” Besides his parents, Dickie was predeceased by brother, Bradford and nephews, Robert “Bobby” Titus and Kevin Raymond. Visitation will be 7-9pm Friday, July 19 at Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby (245-2525), also where the funeral will be at 2pm Saturday, July 20 officiated by Rev Quincy Collins. Interment will take place in the United Baptist Cemetery, Sandy Cove. Donations in memory may be given to the Sandy Cove United Baptist Church Cemetery or Yarmouth Regional Hospital ICU.
