Cullen (MacLeod) Millicent Jessie, 84 of Weymouth passed away peacefully on December 10, at home with family. Millicent was born October 17, 1939, to the late Daniel and Harriet (Murphy) MacLeod, of Thorburn.
In her early life Millicent worked for Sobeys before meeting her late husband Aubrey and leaving work to become a devoted mother of her five children, Robert (Lori Ramsey) of Truro, Paul of Weymouth, Jo-Anne (Barry) Lannon, Brian (Tara Ferguson) of New Glasgow, Stephen (Sarah) of Doucetteville.
Millicent returned to work when her children were grown, ending her career at the Weymouth Drugstore. She made many friends and acquaintances while working there until retiring. Millicent enjoyed serving her community and belonged to many organizations including the Weymouth Garden Club, Historical Society, Gilbert’s Cove Lighthouse Society, former Executive Director of Digby/Clare Home Care Support Agency, and former board member for the Conway Workshop Association.
Besides her parents and husband, Millicent was predeceased by her sister Rosalie and brother Douglas. She is survived by brothers Ernest and Robert, both of Thorburn, sisters, Charlotte (John) MacDonald of New Glasgow and Anne of Thorburn. Millicent is survived by her grandchildren Duncan (Jen) Hopey, Hannah, Sarah, William and Alexa Cullen, Thomas Ferguson, Chris and David Lannon. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Digby/Clare Home Care Support Agency, the Digby Palliative Care Team and the Victorian Order of Nurses for the comfort and care they provided during Mom’s final time at home. Donations may be made to one of the above organizations or a local Food Bank.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Weymouth, NS, Friday, December 15 at 1:00 pm, with Father Raymond Odumuko officiating. Celebration of Life to be held at a later date.
