It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and friend Lucy Martha (Amero) Melanson on February 6, 2021. Lucy was a gentle soul and kind loving mother. Lucy enjoyed the simple things in life. She loved to watch the birds and take rides to see the beautiful flowers and nature. Lucy often spoke of the many times she visited Savary Park to enjoy a walk and a picnic with family.
One of Lucy’s favorite pastimes was swimming. Her days were spent having a coffee and visiting with friends. Because of her pleasant nature and joyful demeanor, spending time with Lucy was uplifting. She always saw the good in people and was never one to hold a grudge. Her work ethic and positive outlook on life was a great example to follow. Although she faced many challenges her kindness always shone through. Lucy’s final days were spent in comfort and contentment under the tender lovely care of the Au Logis’ staff in Metaghan and Tideview Terrace in Digby, Nova Scotia. Her presence in our lives will be greatly missed.
She is survived by daughters, Sandy Melanson, Dena Melanson, and Annette Durphy; son, Alan Melanson; special Niece, Patsy Potter; grandchildren, Micheal Michele Phelps, Jason Phelps, Billie Jo Bailey, and Travis Durphy; great grandchildren, Samantha Phelps, Sabre Phelps, Evan Phelps, Lee Phelps, Avry Phelps, and Julian Little; great great grandchild, Raye Sockabasin and Many Nieces and Nephews. Lucy was predeceased by parents, Sarah and Leonard Amero; siblings, Herman, Vena, Marion, Ina, Lena, Raymond, Lawrence, Ruby, and Guy; daughter, Donna Bailey; great grandson, Ray Matthew Sockabasin.
