It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Linden Percy Patterson, Age 75 of Freeport, NS. Linden passed away peacefully with family by his side on October 3, 2021 at The Birches Nursing Home in Musquodoboit Harbour, NS.
Linden is survived by his wife of 53 years, Phyllis (Mac); daughter, Krista Denton (Robbie) of West Chezzetcook, NS; son, Keith Patterson (Wendy) of Saint John, New Brunswick; grandchildren, Tonia Stevens (Josh) of Porters Lake, NS, Brandon Denton (Amanda) of Halifax, NS, Riley Patterson of Saint John NB, and Ashley Graves (Jeff) of Saint John, NB; great-grandchildren, Ryan, Nathan, Dallas, Keegan, Riley, Nevaeh, Aubree; brothers, George Patterson and Alison Patterson, both of Freeport, NS; step-siblings, Heidi, Walter, Patrick, Alice & Hanna. Also, survived by a very special Aunt Janet & Aunt Rowena. Linden was predeceased by his biological parents, Lawrence Doucette and Marion Prime and step-father Wilbert (Wimp) Patterson, sister, Rowena Patterson; grand-parents, Melba and Percy Prime; Aunt Stella; uncles, Ivan, Daniel, Clifton, Kurt and some very special cousins.
Linden will always be remembered as being a soft-spoken, kind-hearted and hardworking man. He was a devoted husband for 53 years to his loving wife Phyllis, a loving father and hero to two children. He was a trusted friend and was always willing to offer help and guidance to anyone in need. He was known as the community go to guy when they needed advice or help when building anything. For fun, in his younger years, Linden spent lots of time up at Carmen’s field playing baseball with the crew, he played on the “Freeport Schooners” baseball team, and he was very involved in The Freeport Fire Department for many years, also was an active fireman until Parkinson’s took over. He worked at Conner Brothers and also Henry Prime’s fish plant in the summer months. While working for The Department of Highways as a snow plow operator for 30 plus years. Linden was a highly skilled carpenter and spent long hours on building many homes throughout Long Island. In earlier years, Linden spent his free time growing fresh produce and growing Christmas trees. To Linden, his family and friend meant everything to him, and he always put others before himself. As a natural born nurturer and a mentor to many. Linden felt the importance of involving the younger generation into his hobbies, teaching them, passing on his knowledge and skills of the outdoors and his carpentry. Linden touched the hearts of everyone he crossed paths with and will always be remembered for his genuine kindness.
There will be a visitation for Linden from 12:00-2:00pm and funeral service at 2pm all from the Freeport Baptist Church, Rev. Tim Long officiating. Following Public Health regulation proof of full vaccination or letter of exception for anyone 12 or older is required to attend the visitation and service, masks are required. Following the service, the Freeport Fire Department will be having a celebration in honor of Linden at the fire hall, family and friends welcome to join.
