It is with tremendous sadness, the family announces the sudden passing of Linda Lou Moore (McDormand), 65 of Westport, Digby Co. on June 8, 2023. Born in Westport she was a daughter of the late Ray Douglas McDormand and the late Helen Mary Taylor.
Linda was a long-time member of the Westport Church of Christ, where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed volunteering her time on numerous occasions with the Westport Recreation Auxiliary. Linda worked at the Big Scoop in Middleton while attending Vocational School. She then went on to work at the Westport Inn. For many years Linda worked at D.B.Kenney’s fish plant and lobster pound where she loved working with her many friends and co-workers. Linda also worked at the Brier Island Lodge and the Lighthouse Cafe. Linda then went on to work as a housekeeper for her long-time friend Penny Graham at the Bay of Fundy Inn.
Linda is survived by her daughters, Rosemary (Matthew) Thompson; Crystal (Richard) Moore, Sarah (James) Chiasson: grandchildren, Kendra (Logan) & Shannon Stanton, Aiden & Lilly Chiasson, Declan & Rayna Moore: step mother, Barbara McDormand; mother-in-law, Janet Moore; sister, Betty (Charlie) O’Connell; brothers, Marty (Dawn) McDormand, Evan (Nadene) McDormand and half-brother, Patrick Taylor. Linda is also survived by her sister-in-law, Mary Moore; brothers-in-law, Glendon (Heather) Moore; Alan (Joyce) Moore and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was predeceased by her loving husband of 38 years, Clifton Moore, her father Ray McDormand, her mother Helen Taylor, adopted mother Evelyn Strickland, father-in-law Ivan Moore, brother-in-law Gerald Moore; niece, Savannah McDormand and her nephew, Brian Moore.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Jayne’s Funeral Home, Digby. A graveside service will be held July 22 at 1 pm from Brookside Cemetery, Freeport with Craig Glavin and Lou Outhouse officiating. A reception will follow at the Freeport Fire hall. All are welcome.
