Jean was a long-time member of the Rebecca Lodge, the Digby Golf Club, the Digby Curling Club as well as the Digby Yacht Club as both a member and treasurer. She enjoyed playing bridge with DeMille and other couples, and later in life playing with “the girls.” In the summer, Jean and DeMille enjoyed weekends at their cottage with their many friends that would regularly drop in or stay for the weekend. In the winter Friday night at the Raymonds became a regular event with food and drinks for all who stopped by. Meals with the family were important to Jean, and she delighted in sharing her morning coffee and toast with her pets. She loved spending time with her nieces and enjoyed the visits with caretakers before her move to Tideview. Jean will be remembered for her kind and generous nature; she was a volunteer at Meals on Wheels, and she loved to help seniors by taking them to appointments. She will also be remembered for her friendliness, positive attitude, and ability to make others laugh; later in life Alzheimer’s began to loosen her filter and her sarcasm brought out even more laughter from those around her.
