Born in Weaver Settlement, he was a son of the late Hector Barr and Alice (Tooker). Besides his parents Glen was predeceased by his wife, Rilla of 65 years and his little brother Richard. He leaves behind his children, Ronnie (Peggy), Eric (Darlene), Max (Bev), Cathy Sabine (Tim), Holly, Merle (Crystal); foster son Pat; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Glen is also survived by his two sisters, Lois (Wagner), Carol MacAlpine and brother, Donnie.
He was very proud of starting his mink ranch in 1952 with just three mink, and built it up to a business that raised some of the best Nova Scotia black mink. He and Rilla loved to travel, and it took them to Spain, Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii and all over the United States and Canada. Later in life they took up ballroom dancing and loved to talk about all of the people they met along the way. Dad loved to sing gospel music and listened to his music daily during his illness, even singing along at times. The family wishes to thank all of those who were involved in his care at home.
Visitation will be 3pm September 8 with funeral service at 4pm all from Southville Church of Christ, with Lou Outhouse officiating. Burial to follow in Southville Church of Christ Cemetery. Share a memory or leave a condolence at www.jaynesweymouth.com
