Lord on October 29, 2022 at the age of 69. He passed away at Valley Regional Hospital after a
short and final battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife and children. Dwight was the son of
the late Wilson and Ruth (Murphy) Outhouse of Tiverton. He grew up in Tiverton and graduated
from Islands Consolidated School in 1972, where he met the love of his life Angela (Gower)
Outhouse. They were married on August 22, 1975 in Digby. Dwight and Angela settled in East
Ferry in 1977. They started a family, raising two children, Jocelyn and Michael. Dwight worked
as a lobster fisherman for over 30 years; captain of his own boat, first the Lady Angela, then the
Lady Angela II. In the months outside of lobster season, he went handlining, and later went
herring seining for many years with his brother David Outhouse on the Daughter’s Three, and
then the Island Bounty. Dwight left the fishing industry due to his health in the early 2000s. He
moved to Digby in 2011 and enjoyed life in town after many years on Digby Neck and Long
Island. After a long career in fishing, he embraced retirement. He loved spending time with his
wife, visiting his children and grandchildren, camping and traveling with family, going to
concerts, exercising, reading, listening to classic rock and enjoying his cats, most notably his
beloved cat Wally that he was heard to call “son”. He was known for his sense of humour and
storytelling, his gentleness and his willingness to help. He was loved and respected by his
family, his friends, both old and new, his church and his community.
Dwight was predeceased by his parents Wilson and Ruth (Murphy) Outhouse. He is survived
and missed by his loving wife of 47 years Angela (Gower) Outhouse, children Jocelyn (Alvin)
Beach and Michael (Felecia) Outhouse, brother David (Angela) Outhouse, and grandchildren
Maegan, Ian, Christopher, Eric, Emme, Evan, Jonathan, Owen, Ellis and Ollie.
