Brian Donald Mullen, age 64, Havelock, passed away September 23, 2016 at the QEII, Halifax. Brian was born March 20, 1952 in Oka, Quebec to the late Austin and Dorothy Jean Mullen. The family returned to NS and after Brian graduated high school he attended Dalhousie University before graduating from the Nova Scotia Center of Geographic Science. He then went to Alberta and worked designing pipelines before returning to NS to marry his wife Kimberley on June 6, 1981. Following in his father’s footsteps he started his own mink farm, which became his passion. He served as President of Nova Scotia Mink Breeders Association and was always concerned for the success of his fellow ranchers. Brian was a dedicated mink farmer and known for his vast knowledge of the subject. He enjoyed participating in field dog trials throughout Canada and New England and won many awards through his own Greenbrier Kennels. He was an avid outdoorsman and spent many hours roaming the woods. His true passions were mink ranching, the outdoors, hockey and his children. He was a lover of long peregrinations. He is survived by wife Kimberley Ann, and 5 children: Katherine Maureen (Gregory), Erin Evangeline, Robin Victoria Jean, Morgan Nathaniel Austin, Donovan Samuel Dixon. Two grandchildren Eli and Callum Melanson. Aunts Harriette (Hallett), Stella (Earl) and Phyllis (Walton); brothers Dixon Durwood, Blair Edward (Janice) and sister Maureen Isabel (Dr. Patrick). Visitation will be held at Jayne’s Funeral Home, Weymouth North for family Tuesday, September 27 at 7-9PM, and open to the public Wednesday, September 28 from 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Funeral services will take place Thursday, September 28 at 2PM at the Church of Christ in Weymouth, Pastor Quincy Collins officiating.
