Pat was born in Ann Arbor on January 9, 1942 to Francis and Marion Farrell. He attended St. Joseph Catholic grade school and graduated from Dexter High School in 1959. He was the recipient of a state award through Future Farmers of America that sent him to participate in the national competition out-of-state. Pat bought the family farm on Farrell Road in 1959 when he graduated from high school. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He married Betty on December 26, 1964 and worked as a dairy farmer for 40 years. In 1999 he sold the farm and retired which allowed him and Betty to start traveling and wintering in Texas.
Pat was a hard-worker. He started farming with his father, Francis at a young age. At one point he was working 5 different farms at the same time with his dad. When his dad passed on, he continued to farm with his son John. He was a dedicated provider for his family. He enjoyed fishing and target shooting which he did for many years in his retirement. He also loved watching golf and old western television shows and would repeat watching the same episodes again and again.
