William Miller

DeWitt, MI

Born November 8, 1930 in Lansing, MI to Edwin and Edna (Rossa) Miller and passed away on November 23, 2011. Bill was a 1952 graduate of Michigan State University, was a member of pi Tau pi Sigma Fraternity and worked for the Michigan Department of Community Health as a health physicist until his retirement. He served his country proudly in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Bill retired as a Major from the Michigan National Guard. He was very involved in the VFW and served as Post Commander of VFW Post 671. With his involvement in the VFW he participated and presided in over 960 funeral honors. He was an avid chess player and a member of the Grumpy Gourmet Cooking Club. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter Sarah Loomis. He is survived by his children Edwin Miller, Tina (Jerry) Koch and Tonja (Jacob) Jones; grandchildren Stephen, John, Joshua and Zachery. Funeral services will be held at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home, DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington, Dewitt, on Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the VFW Post 671, 12250 N. US 27, DeWitt, MI 48820 in Mr. Miller’s memory.
