Wayne Miller, age 84, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 23rd, 2022 at home peacefully with his soulmate and wife of 48 years, Betty, at his side. Wayne was born in Lansing, MI to the late Gilbert Stephen and Rachel Elizabeth “Betty” (Bauer) Miller on February 13th, 1938. Wayne had one sister, Ivah Frazier (deceased) from Traverse City, MI. Wayne married the love of his life, Frances “Betty” DeRose Miller on November 3rd, 1973. Together they had one son, Luke Gilbert Miller. Wayne was also the proud Grandfather to three grandsons, Alexander, Maxwell and Samuel. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons teaching them life lessons and leading by example.
Wayne’s early professional career was focused in the agriculture business where he worked as a Credit Manager and in sales for companies such as Farm Bureau, Michigan Harvest Store, Producers Livestock Credit Corporation and Michigan Livestock Exchange. After his retirement, Wayne worked part-time jobs to keep his mind active, such as performing crop damage assessments and on special development projects for D.L. Kesler and Sons Construction.
Wayne was a member of the Church of the Resurrection in Lansing, MI since birth, enjoyed spending time contributing to the community with his time at St. Vincent dePaul Society at the Church of Resurrection where he united with other Vincentians to support people in need, through the face of Christ.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Frances “Betty” Miller of Dewitt, MI; their son, Luke Miller and grandsons, Alexander, Maxwell and Samuel Miller of Grand Haven, MI. Wayne joins his daughter-in-law, Karyn Suzanne (Sackman) Miller, in Heaven. Wayne is also survived by Betty’s special cousins, Joe (Julie) DeRose and Elaina; many nieces and nephews, Denise Smith, Karen (Tom Gannon) Frazier, Cindy Green, Tina (Kim Tezak), Terry Kantz, Doug (Teresa Frazier), Pamela Frazier and Angela Iaconelli.
Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Vincent dePaul Society at the Church of the Resurrection, 1454 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing, MI 48912.
A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday, May 2 at 11 a.m. at Church of the Resurrection, 1505 E. Michigan Ave., Lansing with the family receiving friends beginning at 10 a.m. Visitation will take place on Sunday from 5-8 p.m. with a Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Home (DeWitt Chapel), 205 E. Washington St.
Wayne’s final resting place will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lansing, MI.
