Violet Pearl Kolberg, born October 3, 1930 to John and Floella (Washburn) Craig, passed away August 6, 2014. Violet was an avid genealogist who found over 2000 living “cousins” on the Washburn side of her family. She started family reunions of the Craig and Washburn families which continue to this day. Violet liked to garden, paint china, read, entertain her grandsons, family and friends. She also enjoyed photography and travel, especially to Emmet and Antrim counties. She worked at Bell Telephone for 15 years before leaving to raise her family.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her husband of 50 years, Frank Kolberg; sons, Jim (Penny) Kolberg and Tom (Karen) Kolberg; 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; brother, John Craig; and sisters, Leona Perry, Mahala (Dale) Turner, and Mary (Ivan) Black.
Family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 10, at the Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington, in DeWitt. A celebration of the life of Violet Pearl Kolberg, officiated by Pastor David D. Brooks, will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 11, at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to the service.
