She is survived by her daughter, Brandie Tucker Tyler (Tim); 3 grandchildren, Peyton, Zayne and Emeryld; step-mother, Virginia Tucker; sisters, Debbie Tucker Shaw (Alex), Lori Branstrom (Bryon); brothers; Bill and Jeff Schafer; very dear and special friend, Thomas Distler; special aunt, Jackie Millard; numerous nieces, nephews and lots of cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, David Tucker; her mother, Joyce (Schafer) Walter; step-father, Murl Walter; beloved grandparents, Gaylord and Francis Schafer; and beloved great grandparents, Will and Lena Schafer.
Sandy loved to cook and was employed at the Frontier Bar for many years.
Sandy loved to swim and she enjoyed many happy hours swimming in Half Mile Lake. She also enjoyed playing Rummy, Wahoo, Pokeno, and Bingo. She was nearly impossible to beat. She also loved singing the old country music she grew up listening to, tap dancing and scaring the dickens out of her younger sisters and brothers. Her drink of choice was Mountain Dew and I'm sure the drop in sales will be felt by it's makers. She loved her cats and they were her constant companions.
She occasionally displayed her inappropriate sense of humor making us cringe and laugh at the same time. She greatly enjoyed watching any and all MSU sporting events.
Due to complications with her health Sandy spent the last several months of her life in the care facility Medi-Lodge West of Lansing where she loved picking on the staff and playing many more games of Bingo and Pokeno.
Her family would like to thank the staff for their great care of Sandy and handling her ever changing moods. Her family would also like to thank the staff of Great Lakes Hospice for helping Sandy and her family as she eased into the final stage of her life.
Sandy will be cremated and her ashes interred at DeWitt Cemetery next to her mother. A celebration of her life will be held in the spring.
Donations to Great Lakes Hospice or The Capital Area Humane Society in lieu of cards or flowers would be appreciated.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, DeWitt Chapel. Fond memories and condolences may be shared at www.grdewitt.com
