Mike was born on January 25, 1943 in Lansing, MI. He graduated from St. Mary Catholic School in 1961 and joined the United States Navy shortly after, serving for four years. Mike worked at the State of Michigan within the Treasury Department from 1973 until 2002. After retirement, he enjoyed golfing, bowling, watching NASCAR, cheering on his grandchildren at their sporting events, rooting for MSU sports (with a special love for hockey), and spending time with family & friends.
Mike was very generous with his time in volunteering. After being a recipient of Old Newsboys shoes and boots as a young child, he became passionate about helping others. He was on the board of the organization for 45 years, serving as President in 2000. His fellow members say he was instrumental in organizing the annual fundraiser and float for the Silver Bells Parade. To Mike’s surprise, the Old Newsboys’ mascot was named ‘Logan’ in his honor. Mike was a proud member of the DeWitt VFW 671, the Knights of Columbus, and the Catholic Community of St. Jude. He also delivered Meals on Wheels to many seniors within Clinton County, and thoroughly enjoyed his conversations with the folks he served.
Mike was preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Logan. He is survived by his daughter, Mindy (Craig) Smith, his sons, Matthew (Jenn) Logan, and Chad (Taylor) Logan; grandchildren, CJ, Chance, Makenzie, McKenzie, Conner, Cameron, Eliana, Greyson, Aubrielle, and Kaiah; great-grandchild to come in March 2019; brother, Jim (Nancy) Logan; and his beloved dog, Sonny.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7th at Gorsline Runciman in Downtown DeWitt from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral mass will be held at Catholic Community of St. Jude in DeWitt on Thursday, November 8th at 11:00 AM, followed by burial service at the City of DeWitt Cemetery.
