

Maxwell J. Grost, born July 25, 1931 to Martin and Anna (Fedewa) Grost, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on December 10, 2014. Max was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and a cherished friend to those who knew him. He graduated from MSU with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was also active in ROTC. He later served in the US Air Force. Max retired from Accident Fund of Michigan after more than 33 years of service. He was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish in Lansing. Max was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Loa-Lea Grost; brothers, Dr. James Grost and Thomas Grost; and brother-in-law, Fred Baumgartner. Surviving to cherish his memory are his children, Lyn (Bruce) Ranshaw, Rob (Karen) Grost, Terry (Beth) Grost, and Kurt (Lisa) Grost; grandchildren, Kristen, Jessica, Wade, Lauren, Kelsey, Marcus, and Aaron; great-granddaughter, Olivia; and sisters, Jeanette Baumgartner and Marie (Jack) Bower. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 19, at the Catholic Community of St. Jude, 801 N. Bridge St. in DeWitt. Interment will follow immediately at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Lansing. The family will receive friends and relatives from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 18, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 900 E. Michigan Avenue in Lansing. The rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Those desiring may make contributions to the Mid-Michigan Autism Association, P.O.
