Mark John Esckilsen, aged 65, passed away on July 22, 2024. He was born in Lansing, Michigan on December 7, 1958. Mark dedicated 32 years of his life working at General Motors until his retirement in 2017. He was a proud alumnus of Dewitt High School.
A man who loved the outdoors, Mark was an avid hunter and fisherman, known for his yearly excursions to Boundary Waters with his cousin Pat. His passion for nature extended to foraging for morel mushrooms, a hobby he cherished deeply. Mark's love for the outdoors was matched by his devotion to his family.
He is survived by his three sons, Mark, John, and Daniel Esckilsen; his sister, Jean Pingston (Mike); his grandchildren, Holden, Ethan, Tony Esckilsen, Alexandra Esckilsen, and Isabella Eallonardo; and his great-grandchild, Elliot Lerma. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Jack E. and Dorothy Jean Esckilsen (Feldpausch), and his brother, Jack Esckilsen.
Visitation will be held on Monday, July 29th from 10-11am, with a service at 11am followed by burial at the City of Dewitt Cemetery. Afterwards, please join the family for lunch at Mark's favorite watering hole, South Riley Tavern. 10777 S. Francis Rd. Dewitt. 1st drink is on Mark.
