Lena Anne McAdams

Monday October 7, 2024. She was a resident at Brookdale Meridian Assisted Living facility. Lena was born December 4, 1928 in Frankfurt, Germany. She attended Frankfurt Technical Institute where she received a teaching degree in Home Economics. In 1951 she requested immigration sponsorship from her Uncle Phillip Gerstung who was a legal citizen of the United States. She was accepted for legal immigration by the United States Government after being given a clean bill of health, having the ability to speak fluent English and provide proof of gainful employment. After the required waiting period she became a very proud citizen of the United States of America. She resided in Lansing and worked at Schaberg Dietrich Hardware Company as an accounts payable clerk. While working there she met her future husband Eugene McAdams Sr. They were married on her birthday in 1953 and resided in Bath. Their marriage continued for the next 69 years until Eugene’s passing in 2022.

Their family included children Eugene McAdams Jr and Caroline Haugen (Kevin), grandchildren Michael Haugen, Stephanie Gardner (Jake), Glendon McAdams (Lacey) and the late Darren McAdams, great grandchildren Ethan and Isaac Haugen, John, Oliver and Hudson McAdams and Emma Gardner. Lena was a loving Wife, Mother and Oma, a fantastic cook, seamstress and homemaker. Donations can be made in her memory to Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Lansing.
