Katherine Cook, age 92, died Monday, October 13, 2014. She was born July 28, 1922 in Lansing, Michigan and had been a resident in the Lansing area all her life. Of late she had been a resident of the Wynwood of Meridian Assisted Living facility in Haslett. Her parents were Harrison Coykendall and May Molineaux. She was a high school and nursing school graduate and was married February 5, 1945 to Robert Keith Cook. Katherine was a nurse at Sparrow Hospital, Roselawn Manor and St. Lawrence Hospital. A devoted wife and mother, sometimes described as ‘sweet,’ she could also at times be strong and stubborn and she was reluctant to accept any kind of technology in any form. Early-on, she showed interest in collecting dolls, antiques, coins, many other things. One of her culinary specialties was the pot roast and she will also be remembered for her fine chocolate chip cookies. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her sons, Gary, Duane, Mark and Alan; and grandchildren, Donnie and Travis, Crystal and Dustin, Chris and Caitlin. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, October 17, at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes, 205 E. Washington in DeWitt. Family will receive friends from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel.
