With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of James Arthur Rodgers, a remarkable individual whose life was marked by dedication, passion, and a thirst to live life his way. Born on June 18, 1954, James lived a life filled with achievements and cherished moments.
James was a man of extraordinary discipline and mastery, having achieved the prestigious rank of 7th Dan Junior Grand Master in Tae Kwon Do. His commitment to martial arts was a testament to his unwavering determination and his ability to inspire others to reach their full potential. James was a dedicated head instructor for Central Studios through Tae Park Tae Kwon Do for several years during his 48 year Tae Kwon Do career.
Beyond his martial arts accomplishments, James was a true Renaissance soul. He had an insatiable curiosity and an artistic spirit that led him to explore various interests. He had an eye for capturing life's beauty through the lens of a camera, and his photography allowed him to freeze moments in time that will forever be cherished. His passion for motorcycles and hiking spoke to his adventurous nature, as he embarked on journeys that mirrored his fearless approach to life.
James also had a deep love for music that resonated with everyone who knew him. While he was an avid jazz fan, you could find everything in his playlist from Metallica to Kool and The Gang.
James will be remembered not only for his achievements but for the genuine kindness he extended to those around him. His contagious laughter and warm smile could brighten the darkest of days, leaving an indelible mark on the lives he touched. He is survived by his spouse of 30 years, Teri, His children: Patricia (Kevin), Joshua (Julie), Jayme (Nick), and Wesley. His grandchildren: Terrance, Keyshawn, Ben, Mila, Korban, Liam, Lillian,and Alaia, Great Grandchildren: Zakai, Amayas, and Keyshawn Jr, and his brother Jeffery Rodgers.
A Celebration of Life will be held on October 15 from 12-4 pm at Slice of Spice located at 7851 Spring Arbor Rd (M60), Suite 37 Spring Arbor, MI 49283. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made to the Tae Kwon Do World Federation.
James's legacy will forever inspire us to live life to the fullest, embrace our passions, and treat others with the same kindness that he shared with the world. May he rest in peace, knowing the profound impact he had on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
