Floyd Fowler, born August 19, 1929 to Floyd and Lucille (Green) Fowler, passed away on January 7, 2013. Floyd was a resident of DeWitt for 42 years and served as the DeWitt Cemetery sexton for 23 years. He was an avid fisherman and bowler and enjoyed his nephew, Russ’s, softball games. Floyd was a talented craftsman, working with wood and metal and making scarves for needy and homeless children. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Louis and Larry Fowler. Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife, Carolyn, who has lost the “love of her life” of 48 years; daughters, Kathy Mix, Karen Smith, Kim Szasz and Kurene (Jerry) Adams; grandchildren, Staci, Tammi, Mandi, Michelle, Bryan, Angie, Nicole, David and Steven; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ed (LaDonna) Fowler and Everette (Sandy) Fowler; sisters, Lolita Kristofferson and Shirley Harris; sisters-in-law, Marlene Fowler, Evelyn (Barry) Ostrom and Ruth Ann Holley; and special friend, Connie Raymer. His funeral service will be held Friday, January 11 at 11:00 a.m. at Valley Farms Baptist Church, 1141 E. State Rd. in Lansing. Interment will be at DeWitt Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 10 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel, 205 E. Washington in DeWitt. The family thanks the staff of Great Lakes Hospice, specially Denise Tomayo and Meri Williams for the care they gave Mr. Fowler.
