Douglas Arthur Shooltz, 71, passed away Tuesday, November 6, 2018 at his home in Bath, Michigan. Doug loved hunting and golfing with his best friend Gary McDurmon and his nephews, Steve, Allen, and Brian Wallace. He golfed on several golf leagues and was known as “St. Doug” on the golf league with Fran’s co-workers.
He cherished every moment with all his nieces and nephews; they were all a huge part of his life.
He was a genuine family man and family always came first. He enjoyed having his father-in-law Paul Vermillion spend his last years with him and Fran. He was always happy to help when anyone needed him, from babysitting to carpentry work.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alwin and Rudy Shooltz, and his sisters, Elaine Wallace and June Madden.
Doug loved his wife Fran of 53 years; his son Keith (Holly) Shooltz; granddaughter, Leah (Jeff) Clark; the apples of his eye, great-grandkids Aubrey Lynn and Carter James Clark; and his brothers, Bill (Ginny) Shooltz, LaVerne Shooltz, and Wayne (Marilyn) Shooltz. He was truly a great father, grandpa, brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend, and will be missed forever.
Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, November 9, 2018 at 11am at St. Therese Catholic Church, 102 W Randolph St, Lansing. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the Mass at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made in Doug’s honor to ALS of Michigan, 24359 Northwestern Hwy., Suite 100 Southfield, MI 48075.
