She was born March 11, 1947 in Windsor, Ontario, Canada to Henri Paul Lavallee and Marie Rose (Bisson) Lavallee. After growing up and attending school in Windsor, Diane's adventurous spirit prompted her to follow her big brother John, and she moved to Churchill, Manitoba, Canada. While living among the polar bears for a few years and working for the Canadian National Research Council, she met and married Lance Erley. They moved to the United States, making homes in Kentucky and Georgia before ultimately separating. Diane and her two children moved to Michigan and finally settled in DeWitt. She then began her long career with the State of Michigan, during which she worked in the Office of the Attorney General, Department of Military and Veterans Affairs and Department of Homeland Security. Diane recently retired after many dedicated years to enjoy travel, golf, and theater. She played on numerous golf leagues and traveled often to experience new and exciting courses. Another passion was the Starlight Dinner Theatre for which she served as Production Associate and Stage Manager for over 5 years. Gardening, home improvement, and dancing were also activities she greatly enjoyed. A source of great pride for her was becoming a United States citizen in 2010. Diane was predeceased by son-in-law, Scott Colf. She is survived by children, Denice Erley and Kevin (Jessica) Erley; siblings, John (Donna) Lavallee, Janine Lavallee, Jack (Carol) Lavallee; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
