When Dale was small, the family lived in Lansing, then they moved to West Branch and lived there for a few years. Dale's father got a job back in Lansing, so they moved back. Dale attended school at Pattingill, and Eastern High School, graduating in January 1958. Dale attended Lansing Business College and studied accounting.
Dale's employment history started as a young boy, with a paper route. He also worked at England-Cook Chevrolet, where his father was a mechanic. Dale cleaned up the service area and helped keep the tools organized for his dad. After high school, Dale worked for the State of Michigan, in the income tax department. He later took a job with the State Highway Department in Saginaw, MI. Around 1970, he started working for the Michigan State Police in the identification department, working with fingerprints and more as the Michigan State Police headquarters.
Through mutual acquaintances, Dale and Sharon met and decided to get married. So, on August 12th, 1972, they were married at the Latter-Day Saints Chapel in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On May 10th, 1972, Dale and Sharon were sealed in the Washington D.C. Temple for time and all eternity.
After a time, they became foster parents to 24 children, and two little brothers entered their care and were adopted by them. So, Robert and William became their sons, the Hitchcock boys!
Dale was a wonderful, caring son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, watching birds, sports, being in nature, and spending time with his family. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
Funeral service for Dale will take place on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 11:00 AM, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 300 E Townsend Rd, Saint Johns, MI 48879.
