Colleen Rae Miller

Colleen Rae (Dennis) Miller age 82 of Dewitt, Michigan, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2022. She was born on June 14, 1940, preceded in death by her parents, Kenyon Dennis and Margaret (Kenyon) Dennis; and brothers, Duane Dennis, Lynn Dennis and Kenyon Dennis.

Colleen studied Animal Husbandry at MSU, and proceeded to lead a life-long, successful career in the horse industry. Her passion was training, breeding and raising champion Quarter Horses of many disciplines including Reining, Hunter Jumpers, Western Pleasure and Halter.

She will be remembered by most as the person that helped them get a start in the horse business. She had a deep understanding for bloodlines and an appreciation for multiple disciplines and breeds, making her one of a handful of truly well rounded horsewomen of our time.

Everyone that met her, learned quickly that she was a hard worker, but she also loved spending time planting flowers around the farm each Spring and enjoyed evenings relaxing in the gazebo.

Colleen is survived by her husband of 53 years, Gary L. Miller; daughter, Sonja (Doug) Hoezee; son, Robert (Brandy) Miller; 3 grandchildren, Claudia (Grant) Brown, Lance Hoezee and Blair Miller; and sister, Sharron (Manuel) Acino.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 4-8 pm on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Reno’s North, 16460 Old U.S. 27, Lansing, Michigan 48906.
