Carolyn Sue Brewer, of Lansing, Michigan, passed away on April 7, 2025, in DeWitt Township. She was born on December 30, 1950, in Lansing, Michigan, to Elvin Charles Brown and Ruby Dorthea Brown (Snellenberger).
Carolyn married Gary Eugene Brewer in 1975 at Calvary Baptist Church, where they remained devoted members throughout their lives. She earned an associate degree in Library Sciences from Lansing Community College and worked at the Lansing Public Library for several years before dedicating herself full-time to raising and homeschooling her children.
A loving and patient mother, Carolyn homeschooled her three children — Benjamin Brewer, Timothy Brewer, and Bethany Brewer — through their formative years until high school. Her commitment to their education was a testament to her nurturing spirit and steadfast dedication.
Carolyn also served her church community faithfully, leading the Ladies' Bible Study at Calvary Baptist Church for over two decades. She continued this ministry until November 2024, when she stepped down due to health challenges related to ovarian cancer.
She found joy in crocheting afghans and generously gifting them to family and friends. Her gentle nature and giving heart touched many lives.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of nearly 50 years, Gary Brewer; her children Benjamin, Timothy (Michelle), and Bethany Brewer; and her siblings Beverly (Richard) Glasovatz, Gerald (Linda) Brown, and Jeffrey (Sue) Brown. She is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
May her memory bring comfort and peace to all who knew her.
