Albert Schulz was born in Lansing, MI to Albert A. and Bessie M. (Dunckel) Schulz on May 26, 1930. The Schulz family moved to a farm north of DeWitt in 1937 and Albert resided on that same property the remainder of his life. Albert married Janet Lankford in 1950. The couple spent 44 years together before Janet passed away in 1994. In 1995, Albert married Jerrie Schwab, who survives him. Also surviving are two stepchildren, Dorothy Cooper and Norman Hardy; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; niece, Kimberly Lankford-Medici; Vernon Kowalk, more a brother than a friend; and Jack Cunningham, who was like a son. Albert was also preceded in death by sister, Mildred Schulz, and special niece, Kristina Bond.
Albert was a custodian in the DeWitt school system for many years.
A cowboy, a gentleman, and a loving husband, Albert was an avid horseman who was never without at least one horse for 65 years. He was instrumental in helping form the Michigan Trail Riders Association, building horse camps from shore to shore across Michigan’s northern lower peninsula. Albert was a grumpy old man, wrapped around a heart of gold.
The family is being served by Gorsline Runciman Funeral Homes DeWitt Chapel.
