Stanley Lee Miller, 75, of Des Plaines, IL, formerly of Atlanta, GA, and Gurnee, IL. Beloved husband of Barbara Miller; loving father of Wes (Kasia Purzecka) Miller and Katy (Kevin) Bicknell; proud grandfather of Mila, Alex and Aaron Bicknell; caring brother of Ann (Larry) Miller. Singer of songs - some songs by his favorite artists, others by his own wit. Teller of jokes, both good and bad. His love for others was known by all who had the pleasure of receiving an endearing “hey” before their name as he greeted them.
He was born August 31st 1947 to Charlette and Ernest Miller. After growing up in Georgia and attending Mercer University and Georgia State University, he moved to Illinois where he met and married Barbara Miller, and had both of his children. He earned his MBA from Lake Forest University, and served on the Civil Service Commission for Gurnee, IL. He spent over 30 years at Snap-On Tools, eventually working as Director of Human Resources Development & Training before retiring.
Stan had many passions throughout life, and was a lover of cars, boating, shooting, woodworking, and country music. While he had many interests, what he enjoyed most was spending time with his family and with close friends, wherever they were. You could also find him in his workshop, working around the house, playing guitar, or relaxing in the pool (when he wasn’t cleaning it).
Stan was a genuine and caring man with a heart of humor and forgiveness. His encouragement and support was provided to his family in ways that will be both treasured, and missed. Known as “pop-pop” by his grandchildren, his nickname reflects his light yet calming demeanor.
In accordance with Stan’s wishes, no services will be held.
