Ruth A Blanchard

Ruth Anne Blanchard, nee Sletner, formerly of Des Plaines, entered everlasting life with Christ on Tuesday, August 4, 2015. Ruth was born on January 7, 1924 in Chicago, to Anne and Arne Sletner. On December 29, 1945 Ruth married Roy W. Blanchard, following his discharge from the US Navy. Compassionate, fun and caring, Ruth loved spending time with her family and friends. Ruth enjoyed baking, reading, dancing and traveling, and she was very proud of her Norwegian roots. Survivors include her son, James Roy of Mt. Prospect and Janice (Peter) Eigenfeld of Roselle; six grandchildren, James (Tracey), Sara, Aaron, Marni (Andy Wozniak) Bethany Eigenfeld and Tim Eigenfeld; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy W. in 1993 and her sister Helene Marie (late John) Paulsen in 2000. Visitation Sunday August 9th 3:00 pm to7:00 pm at the Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner St. (Northwest Hwy. / Rt. 14 at Rand Rd.), Des Plaines. In state Monday, August 10th at Immanuel Lutheran Church from 9:30 am until time of Funeral Service at 10:30 am. Interment will be held at Arlington Cemetery, Elmhurst IL.
