Ruben D. Reyes

Ruben D. Reyes, age 88, of Niles, Illinois passed away on Monday, October 23rd, 2023. He was born on June 27 1935, in Dagupan City, Philippines to the late Felix and Juanita (Daleten) Reyes. Ruben was a kind, selfless, and loving individual who always tried to help others. He had a humble personality, and his friendly nature endeared him to everyone he met. Ruben is survived by his beloved wife, Josefina A. Reyes, and their children, Judith (Carlos) Ortega, Dulce Reyes, and Jovanzalde (Claudia) Reyes. His siblings Rodger D. Reyes, Aurora D. Melendez, and Aurelio D. Reyes.

He was also a cherished grandfather to Erika (Jonathan) Loren Reyes, Angel Reyes, Dulce Anaya, Richie Teresi, Kyla Anaya, Madeline Anaya, Ethan Reyes, Isaiah Enriquez, Jonathan Reyes, Alex Reyes, Thomas Reyes, Riley Reyes, Olivia Reyes and Lucas Abuel .

Ruben was preceded in death by his son, Dr. Ruben A. Reyes, Jr., his son Tardy Reyes, his son, Attorney Carlo A. Reyes, his brother Juaquin D. Reyes and his brother, Clarito D. Reyes, and several nieces and nephews. Ruben pursued higher education at the University of the East in Manila, Philippines. He was the president of the worker's union at Winthrop Corporation in Manila, Philippines. He had a successful career as an accountant for AON insurance company. Ruben had a passion for sports and enjoyed watching all sports, especially cheering for his favorite teams. The Bears and the Cubs. He also had a fondness for playing the lotto, hoping to strike if lucky one day. Ruben enjoyed mall walking with friends, and attending parties with his family.

Friends and family will gather for a visitation for Ruben that will be held Thursday & Friday, November 16th & 17th, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. A Last Viewing and Chapel Prayers will occur Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at 9:00 AM, Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, Illinois 60016. A Mass of Christian burial will take place Saturday, November 18th, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Saint John Brebeuf Parish, 8307 North Harlem Avenue, Niles, Illinois 60714. Following an interment at Maryhill Cemetery.
