Myung Sook immigrated to the United States in 1967 from her native South Korea. She became Scarlet in 1979 when she naturalized as a United States citizen. Scarlet was beloved by many within the Chicagoland Korean American community. In addition to raising her family, Scarlet clearly had a passion for God which led her to serve her church, help others through missions trips to South America, and diligently study to earn a master’s degree in Christian studies.
Scarlet is survived by Young Shik Scott Lee, her loving husband of fifty-five years; her children, Michael (Sandra) Lee, Caroline (Thomas) Kang, and Betty (Steve) Lee who blessed her with eleven grandchildren: Joy (Sam Mo), Noelle, Luke, Kate, Bethany, Jack, Judah, Caleb, Joshua, Clara, and Thomas Jr.; and her youngest brother, Ho Young Lee. She was predeceased by her father, Young Ahm Lee; mother, So No Mi Park; sister, Young Sook Lee; and four brothers, Hae Young Lee, Hee Young Lee, Jung Moo Lee, and Gui Young Lee.
Family and friends are welcome to celebrate Scarlet’s life on December 29, 2022, at Immanuel Community Church, 300 North Schoenbeck Road, Wheeling, Illinois, beginning at 7:00 PM.
