Marjorie Tosch Coller, nee Johnson, of Park Ridge, 95, passed away at her home after a long illness on August 28, 2022. Marjorie is preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin Tosch (1965) and her second husband, Herbert Coller (1983). Marjorie is survived by devoted cousins, Margaret and Karen Johnson and Kandy (Tom) Borneman; many neighbors and friends, among them, David and Debbie Self, Erin (Domenic)Self Baima, Jessica (Liam) Grogan, and Faye McNeeley; her dedicated companion and caregiver, Edith Mendoza; and her stepchildren and their families.
“Marge” was a graduate of North Park Academy, class of ’44, and went on to own Tarney’s Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge in Mundelein, which was the place to be seen in the 1950’s and 1960’s. Marge and Bert traveled around the world although her favorite place to visit was Hawaii (“where you only need a muumuu and pearls”). Marge was known for her generosity to all the dogs in her Park Ridge neighborhood, always ready with a treat when one would walk by with its owner. She also established a charitable foundation which will be her legacy for many years to come and will benefit student scholarships, hospice programs, community organizations and The Buddy Foundation in Arlington Heights, an organization whose mission is to provide immediate safety and care to stray, abused and abandoned animals.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Buddy Foundation or to the rescue of your choice.
Visitation will be from 11 am – 2 pm on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines. Interment will be private.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.OehlerFuneralHome.com for the Coller family.
