John F. Smolak

On November 10, 2023, John F Smolak, 97, of Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully with his beloved wife of 74 years Anne (Spacek) by his side. He's survived by Anne and their children Linda (Don) Chance, and Daniel (Eileen) Smolak. Grandfather to Christopher (Quinn), Michael (Tracy), Taylor, and John. Great-grandfather to Michael, Joey, Ryan, Hannah, Jackson, Larkin, Scarlett, and Rhett. And his grand-dogs, Misty and Emmy, as well as his many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his 2 loving parents Louis and Stella Smolak, older sisters Jean (Frank), and Helen (Frank). A proud World War 2 Veteran, he passed away proudly on Veteran’s Day (reserved).

A visitation for John will be held Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home, 2099 Miner Street, Des Plaines, IL 60016. We will meet at St. Zachary Parish, 567 W. Algonquin Rd., Des Plaines, IL 60016 on Friday, November 17 for a visitation from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. The funeral mass will follow at 10:00 AM. Entombment will be at All Saints Cemetery
