Dear Family,

I miss your Husband/Father so much.  He had great wisdom and forethought he would often share with us.  I wish I had known him when I was new to this Family, he was a bright star.

I first met Henry in 1974 when I started at Imperial Woodworking Co., until his retirement and Maudi at Imperial's infamous Christmas Parties and Anniversary's Octoberfest Style. I respected Henry, he was a Gentlemen, his strong character and his smile acclaimed by so many others will be missed greatly. God's blessings and may He comfort you dear Maudi, Christina and family with my heartfelt sorrow.

Heinrich always brought joy to everyone around him and he acted like a grandfather to my sisters and me. He will be greatly missed.

Everytime I'd ask him how he was doing, he'd reply, "I can't complain"!

Getting to know Mr.Knaup aka papa, in the short amount of time I did was very priceless to me. I can share so many good memories. Christina you and mama was his world, you guys brought so much joy to him including zoey, and bill he cared about  you guys very much, just as much as you guys cared about him. “Easy does it papa” Rest peacefully and soar with the angels! 

Dear Margot and Christina,

It is with such sadness that we have received this news.  Our deepest sympathies. Henry was always such a great friend to my parents Frank and Marion Huschitt and our entire family.  We have so many happy memories with all of you from years back.  It was such a delight that you all recently came to the Imperial Woodworking picnic a few years ago.
We always looked forward to Henry’s many visits to our office and shop.  As so many have mentioned he always had a smile on his face.

Henry was a very Important part of Imperial and making it was and has become.  He was a strong leader who was well respected .  My father always knew that Henry would take care of the shop .  They worked together as Germans do and would raise their voice at times but always respected each other and always were close. We appreciate all he did for our company and are grateful for his service.

He will be fiercely missed but always in our hearts.

The Huschitt Family

I am so grateful for my Sister-in law, Christina, she is so important to our family.  Little did I know when we met, she had two wonderful parents, who also became an important part of our family too. They graced us at many celebrations, adding to the joy of being together. We shared many stories, and I always valued these lively discussions. I especially enjoyed and respected Henry’s opinion about current events. He was always so knowledgeable with a little bit of “contrary” thrown in to provoke further thought and a smile.   The one event I remember, was Christmas Eve at our home. It was steeped in chaos, with over twenty-five people. Coats, purses and hats were piled high on the bed and dresser, and the celebration would begin. Dinner was served,  a visit from Santa was planned for later, and a generous Aunt Kathy would make sure every niece, nephew would receive gifts chosen just for them.   But the unknown stars of this evening’s comedy were my great niece Charlotte, Henry, and Henry’s hat. The merriment died down after  Santa staggered away, and I went to retrieve our “Seniors” coats and hats. Henry’s hat was missing! I had put it on the dresser, I did not want it to become crushed. It was a lovely wool “newsboy” style cap, probably from Germany, and Henry looked dashing in the hat.  I franticly ran up and down the stairs checking every room to no avail.  My Husband suggested I give Henry a hat from our rag tag collection and apologize,  it had been a long day. My voice hit a high note in disbelief.  Then, I found it behind the couch. I remembered my great niece Charlotte had been running up and down the stairs in the excitement of the evening. I was grateful Henry’s hat had been found but regret I did not get to see Charlotte looking adorable in Henry’s hat.    I will  remember Henry in his “newsboy” cap, and will miss his enduring, generous spirit. I am better for having known Henry and my family is better for having Henry  in  our lives. 

Mr. Knaup will be deeply missed. I will never forget all of the fond memories and Lindt Chocolate my god mothers father used to give me. I will cherish my moments spent with him.

Onkel Henry was such a kind gentle man with the  cutest heartfelt laugh.  We will miss him tremendously.

I first met Henry  when he was only in America for 2 or 3 days.  He was hired by Froehlich Cabinet Company where I was already working.  We were fast friends and that friendship lasted over 60 years!  We also sang together in the RGV for over 60 years.  My wife Trudy and I became lifelong friends with Henry & Maudi and will treasure the memories we made together.   We will miss the often lively conversations/arguments we had, (of course we were both stubborn Germans) .  He will surely be missed in our family and he will be forever in our hearts.

Mr. Knaup and the whole Knaup family always treated myself and my sisters like grandchildren. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Mr. Knaup without a smile on his face my whole life.  He will be missed greatly by our family. 

Henry seemed like he never had a bad day. He always had a smile on his face!  He proved that you could have fun and still be classy and dignified!  We will miss him!

My gentle friend has been called to the eternity.

Heinrich "Henry" and I first met at this same time in late July of 1980.   I had stopped over at Imperial Woodworking Co. to apply for work. Even though Frank Sr. was on vacation at the time, Henry hired me that day to work as a machinist or "Cutter" as we used to call them.  

The shop back then was mainly staffed with men that had immigrated from Europe.  I was a little different, and at times although being trained by a German cabinetmaker in my youth,  felt the domineering attitude from my fellow "Cutters" . Henry always seemed to calm the waters. 

As I moved from the machine room to the drafting department Henry would stop in and talk with me about the drawings and the jobs we were involved with, as time passed and I got moved into project management and estimating; Henry would still keep a caring eye on me and help me with advise when I encountered difficult situations.  

Through the years we had our laughs - I can still hear that laugh of his. After he retired he would keep in touch by calling me maybe once or twice a year just to see how things were going. or he would occasionally stop by the shop,  I enjoyed seeing him and hear him talk about his garden or sharing our travel experiences together. 

One piece of advice Henry shared with me was about retirement, he would ask if I was planning on it, I always told him I enjoyed what I do, but he would insist "If the numbers work then stop as soon as you can"  (smiles) Oh Henry, I'm so glad that you were able to enjoy  so many years of the retired life!  

In closing I just want to mention how obviously sincere his love was for you Maudi, I will always remember how he would call you before leaving work and how he told you before he hung up.

God Bless you Henry your with angels now, and God Bless Maudi and Christina too!

Our favorite memory of Mr. Knaup was going to their house for a delicious authentic home cooked German dinner with all three of our kids in tow. It was always a great time
