Donald Neil Cameron Jr., 72, passed away with his family by his side on Sunday, September 22, 2024 in Chicago, IL. His passing is deeply grieved and mourned. Don was born in Hillside, IL on October 26, 1951 and married Joanne McAndrews on May 22, 1982.
Don is lovingly remembered by his wife, Joanne; his children, Scott (Ingrid) Cameron, Bridget (Tony) Winkler, Brian Cameron, and Eileen Cameron; his grandchildren, William, Annie, and Wesley Winkler; John, Christopher, and Patrick Cameron, and his brother, Douglas Cameron. He was preceded in death by his parents, Donald & Jeanie May, and his brother, Jamie.
In his early career Don worked as a public accountant and then as CFO at the University Club of Chicago for 35 years. He loved to spend time with family; boating, skiing, watching movies, and even renovating houses together. His extended family, friends, and colleagues join his family in grieving his loss.
Let us remember with Don the familiar words below as we trust that the LORD is also the One who has made Himself the Substitute so He could now welcome Don home with the words "fear not" to the praise of His glorious grace (Rev. 1:17; Eph. 1:6):
“Holy, holy, holy is the LORD of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” (Isaiah 6:3).
A visitation for Don will be held Friday, September 27th, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Oehler Funeral Home (2099 Miner St., Des Plaines, IL). The funeral Mass will take place on Saturday, September 28th, 2024 at 10:00 AM at St. Paul of the Cross Church (320 W. Washington St., Park Ridge, IL). The Mass will be immediately followed by a vehicle procession to the graveside service at All Saints Cemetery (700 N. River Rd., Des Plaines, IL).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Don's honor to BrainUp (https://brainup.ngo/), an organization dedicated to finding a cure for brain cancer in the Chicago area.
